Working Conditions

I usually have three carers, two of whom work a shift of two days on and two days off, and my third carer works for five days and then has the weekend off. Usually my carers have to be on call, for a maximum of two nights each week to assist me to turn over. I usually need to turn two or three times each night.

My carers usually get on well together and often eat together, go out together and chat with each other. They also help each other learn the job. They often become friends and I keep in touch with many ex-carers.

I use a ceiling hoist to get from my bedroom to the bath and have a mobile hoist, which I use for other transfers I need to make. I also use enviromental equipment to operate the television and to call my carers.
